Illness and Flu Policy

Bloomington Girls Hockey Program
01 October 2009

Bloomington Girls Hockey program has reviewed and agrees with the Bloomington Public School policy for symptoms of the flu.  Any player that exhibits the following symptoms should be kept home:  Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, with cough and/or sore throat.

Sick children should stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing drugs.  Usually, this means staying home for 5 to 7 days.  Children staying home with flu like symptoms should also avoid contact with others except to get medical care.

Bloomington Girls Hockey players must continue to have their own clearly marked water bottles at tryouts, games and practices.   All new players will receive a water bottle with our logo.  If you are interested in purchasing another water bottle, we will have them for sale at tryouts and the parent meeting.

Age groups defined

Each age group is determined by Minnesota hockey rules. If you are within the age as of June 30 you still qualify to play in that age group.

must be 6 years old or younger on June 30th to play 6U.

must be 8 years old or younger on June 30th to play 8U

must be 10 years old or younger on June 30th to play 10U

must be 12 years old or younger on June 30th to play 12U

must be 14 years old or younger on June 30th to play 14U

Some summer leagues determine age groups by birth year, I.E. 96/97 birth year teams play only their birth year. However some girls on this team may be playing at the 12/14 levels depending on if their birthday is before or after June 30th.
